For tennis, or most other exercises that require more than just moving in a straight line, you must have a different kind of aerobic shoes: cross trainers or sneakers. Essentially, both of these cardiovascular shoes are about the same thing - the contemporary version of the sports club shoe, with a good deal of padding, yet still a low top to permit some flexibility and movement at the ankle.

On the other hand, if you play basketball, you need bigger sturdier aerobic shoe to adequately safeguard your ankle. These are called high tops, and they run up all the way to the top of the ankle. They are great for this sport, because you're repetitively jumping high, bursting into swift sprints in assorted directions, and doing many other things that can wreak havoc onbe very hard on your ankle. They safeguard you from injuries more effectively than any other sort of cardiovascular shoes, and you will see nearly all basketball players wearing them. They are not good for the varieties of sprints that you have in tennis, however, and so are rarely if ever worn by tennis players. Then again, if you're a cross country runner, you need different cardio shoes entirely. They will be kind of a combination between running shoes and light hiking boots, with a somewhat light build and plenty of traction on the bottom. If you go for a career in personal training this is a single one of the aspects of fitness you must know all about - but that's another story totally.
